HEY IT'S SUNNY! LET'S GO TO THE ZOO!

Friday morning we woke up to gorgeous weather. So I hatched scheme and packed me and V a lunch. After feeding my grandparents some breakfast it took not a bit of arm twisting to convince my parents to come along. So after packing a few more lunches off we went. V and J have gone a few times together since we were given a pass for Christmas. And it was a lot of fun to have V be our tour guide. He took us to some exhibits that I didn't even know existed. Like the tropical fish and the hands on area where we could touch sea stars, urchins etc. As soon as V walked in he said to the girl, "You have a crab." Which caused the worker to laugh, but he was right it's a little hermit crab. He didn't want to touch anything but he sure loves looking at them. Also I didn't know there was a large shark tank! Honestly, how I didn't know these areas existed is so odd. I guess I had always gone to the most bottom level of the aquarium which has a seperate entrance and never knew the top level was even there!

Just by chance we walked to the elephants just in time for lunch! Suki, was eating long stalks of bamboo and V just loved to watch her break them and put them in her mouth.

One of V's favorite exhibits are the walruses. He loves to watch them swim and blow rasberries. This one kept doing laps by the window. My mom told V to tickle him as he passed, so if you look closely that is what he is doing through the glass!

He also likes watching the polar bears play. One of my memories of the zoo from my childhood is this huge rug. it shows the different heights at different ages of the polar bears. It's a classic, I hope they keep it.

Of course we had to spend some time at the play area before leaving. It was completely crowded due to quite a few school field trips. But I was very impressed with some of the kids. They formed a line on their own to take turns in this spinning cup, and then when it was V's turn the two kids who had been spinning the other big kids super fast instead spun V nice and smooth. He absolutely loved it and was laughing the entire time.

Doing even normal everyday things lately can leave me pretty tired but I am so glad we went to the zoo. Even though I was exhausted and so ready for a nap by the time we left it was worth it.

Looks like a fun zoo! We might have to try to make a visit there some day. Vanessa loves zoos! We hope to get up that way again soon. Hope you are taking good care of yourself. I don't know if I told you, but Todd and his wife are pregnant too... They are due in Sept. They just found out they are having a boy. We are all really excited! Can't wait to find out what you are having!
