So as most fellow parents know, reading to your children is very important. We are encouraged to read to our children at least 20 minutes a day. However, if any of you have tried to read to a toddler you will find it can be difficult to get them to sit through one book much less 20 minutes of books, even spread throughout the day. We kept trying though, bed time was usually when we could squeeze in the most. However, all that changed about a month ago. All the sudden our little munchkin's reader gene kicked in. We knew it had to be in there somewhere considering who his parents are. Not only does V like to sit and read, he either will bring books to you and ask to be read to or bring you to the bookshelf, haha. And some clear favorites have emerged. So I present to you V's dozen favorite books (in no particular order):
1. Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks From A to Z by: Richard Scarry - you can never go wrong with a Busy Town book, especially with trucks, trucks, and more trucks.
2. Goodnight Moon by: Margaret Wise Brown - I am still unsure of what is so alluring about this book, but he loves it and I guess lots of other people do too as it is a classic.
3. Green Eggs and Ham by: Dr. Seuss - we share this favorite, you can't go wrong with Seuss obviously.
4. Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? by: Eric Carle - he loves to look at all the animals, particularly the hippo and snake.
5. My Monster Mama Loves Me So by: Laura Leuke - even though it's monsters it's really cute and the rhymes are funny.
6. Bunny Reads Back Old MacDonald by: Rosemary Wells - really it's just the song in book form but he likes to point to each animal and have us make the corresponding noise.
7. When I Grow Up by: P.K. Hallinan - I highly recommend any book by this author, they are all so positive and good morals plus cute rhymes. Some others include "I'm Thankful Each Day," and "That's What a Friend Is".
8. In The Jungle by: Jo Joof - another animal book.
9. A Hug Goes Around by: Laura Krauss Melmed - a very simple and loving day in the life of a family.
10. The Ocean Alphabet Board Book by: Jerry Pallotta - we only read which fish each letter stands for although it does give more info but he likes to turn the page too fast for the info part, haha.
11. The Going To Bed Book by: Sandra Boynton - another fun rhyming author I like and recommend some of her other books like "Moo, Baa, La La La" and "Blue Hat, Green Hat."
12. Time For Bed by: Mem Fox - This is a very nice bedtime book, cute baby animals and calming rhymes. We read it most nights, often twice haha.
So I hope some of you may enjoy these books with your own little readers and if you have any suggestions that your kids like I would love to hear them.

sorry I never tested you back! I was already in bed just starting on a rare after work nap and fell asleep and missed the last text! I'm doing the glass blocks, star photo album and Christmas ornament (soldier). Did you call the ladies? I was planning to but slept too long! Hopefully there will be a quiet moment tomorrow at work so I can call!
I'm so glad v has inherited your love of reading!
Those are all great! Gavin is into anything Dr. Seuss right now. We have quite a collection of them but had to go to the library for some assortment. One of his favorites now and has been for quite some time is All Aboard the Dinotrain. That is fun to read. When he was younger, he loved the Sandra Boynton books. They were so cute and funny! Their is one that is called Philadelphia Chickens that has a cd with it that we turn on and just dance and dance to it. So much fun. One of my favorites is Max Lucado's You Are Special. I am such a fan of children's literature. Their are so many good one's out there new and old. Some of the old ones are great: Blueberries for sal, The little house. Have fun reading!
Isaiah is also way into reading. Since he likes to read the same book over and over I am very glad that he has two big sisters that like to read to him.
I'm sure you've seen on previous posts of mine how much Conner LOVES to read. He always has! We read books everyday before nap and bed and of course various other times of the day! We only have a few that you listed so I'll have to look into a few other's. I will have to look into doing a post like this with some of our's! The fair looks like it was fun. Can't even remember the last time I went! Hope everyone is well at your house!
