EGGS, DRAGONS, TULIPS & TWILIGHT

We hosted Easter brunch at our house for my parents and my sister's family. Everyone was kind and let me dictate the menu to my current taste, or aversion to, now that's love. The boys had so much fun with the egg hunt, even if it did have to be inside due to the rain. V has such great cousins, they were so helpful to him and even shared when they found eggs to be sure that he got some to as the youngest.

The boys with their loot! Even Brennan participated to appease his prego aunt. He was a huge help to the little ones, and grandma had even made sure to hide some up high just for him.

V adores his cousins and loves whenever he gets a chance to play with them. They are amazingly patient and awesome at entertaining him, he really is lucky.

V had a first this month! We took him to his first movie, "How to Train Your Dragon". Our friend Rain and her two kids also came with us. He moved and squirmed and exclaimed loudly and loved every minute of it. It took a bit of getting used to on my part, reminding myself that I could hear the kids 10 rows in front of me and V wasn't nearly that loud so it's all good. And had I realized that he was free, we would have gone to a movie sooner! As it stands we are eagerly awaiting "Toy Story 3" to come out just after his birthday.
V begged to play the race car game after the movie, I love how he can't even take his eyes off the screen to take a picture!

Playdough has become a new favorite thing to play with around here. And I was so proud of V the other day because instead of just using the cookie cutters he actually sculpted a..... can you guess.....a cow!!! He was so excited as was I.

So last Fall V and I planted some tulip bulbs. However, I started to get very discouraged when a few weeks ago tulips all over our neighborhood and town began blooming and mine hadn't even made an appearance above ground yet! Well it was just another lesson in patience because finally, finally they grew! V shared my joy!

Ok, so he wasn't really as excited as me, but I just loved that picture of him in mid-laugh. But he was pretty interested in smelling the tulips and making sure I saw each one. And yes, I realize it wasn't a total success because somehow I got a few stumpy ones as you can see in the picture. J tried to make me feel better and say maybe they were dwarf tulips, I haven't heard of such a thing but it was a good effort on his part.
Towards the end of the month, my friend Tiffany came to visit. It was so much fun to have her in town. On Saturday, J took V, and her and I headed south. On accident, due to a much needed potty break, we exited the highway and ended up following some signs to the tulip festival.

Tiffany was beyond thrilled to see that they had elephant ears, something she loves but doesn't get in Utah. And was even more ecstatic that it was not just and elephant ear by name but by size too!!!
Of course we didn't just eat, we also enjoyed the tulips. I wouldn't mind if my backyard looked like this.

They had a small section you could walk through and all the different types were names, I took some pics to save as notes for next fall when it's time to plant more bulbs.

Next we headed to Multnomah Falls, I think the picture speaks for its self.

And did you recognize this place. I will give you a hint: vampires, prom....

Yep, we hit Viewpoint Inn in Corbett, OR which is where they filmed the prom scenes for "Twilight". I wish I had takena picture of the view because this inn is definitely named correctly, the view is jaw droppingly beautiful. Only hunger could pull us a away, but not before taking a shot with one more "Twilight" prom memorabilia.

We spent a few hours in nearby Portland at Powell's books, which is like Disneyland for book lovers. And of course grabbed some Voodoo donuts. However, then we took a little detour on purpose or accident depending on who tells the story. As we were heading home, the gas light came on and although we had decided to ditch the side trip to St. Helens we exited at the sign thinking we could get gas and take a quick peek. However, it was a bit farther then we expected, no thanks in part to a gas station attendant's lack of rounding ability. For future reference, 19 miles away is much closer to 20 miles away then 10. Especially on small side roads, I'm just saying. But after realizing we were in for a longer side trip then we expected we embraced it and had lots of fun stalking Bella. Recognize the house below? We also found the "Bloated Toad" which is now for rent if anyone is interested, as is the dress shop which is really a salon. Apparently even Twilight's golden touch can't solve everything in a lagging economy.

After seeing Tiffany off at the airport, we stopped a fabulous hidden park on Lake Washington.

And that pretty much wraps up our April. Thankfully we the help of some medicine I am feeling a bit better, exhausted but better. Unfortunately due to J's new job (which is good) we have to wait an extra two weeks to find out what we are having (that's the bad part). So please withhold all questions regarding a pink or blue answer until June 1st, when we will be happy to answer. At about 4:30pm to be exact. Can you tell I'm just a little excited, haha.

I can't wait to know what you are having too. Your vacation sounds great! The tulips are amazing! I love them. How neat that you got to go to some Twilight places. Albert and I are jealous.
