CONFERENCES, CAPITOLS and BULL RIDING

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Life has been going quick. So here's my first attempt at catching up, look for more posts to follow. Early in February I attended a conference in Washington DC for work. It was the first time I was away for J and V for such a long time! And despite V's best efforts and my wishes, I wasn't able to fit him in my suitcase.
This was my first trip back to DC since I was probably about 11 and we really only got one morning to sightsee in the city but we made the best of it. We walked part of the mall, saw the very odd sculpture garden, and Union Station which is suprisingly pretty for a metro station.

The highlight of our day was taking a tour of the Capitol. We even got to sit in the House of Representatives while they started session. You know that view you see when you watch CSPAN, well that was ours, literally, we sat right next to the cameras! The coolest part was that we had the opportunity to stand and say the Pledge of Alligance with the Reprensatives, it was an amazing experience.

The dome is beautiful and the Capitol itself is very interesting. And on a funny note, one of the best meals I had the whole week was in the Capitol cafeteria, no joke!

The group from our organization consisted of five adults and four youth. The youth were awesome, so much fun. We had a lot of laughs despite me losing my voice. They are very persuasive too, they even talked me into riding a mechanical bull!!! No, there will be no sharing of pictures.
I was also able to squeeze in a visit with the Lamjavs and meet their newest little girl. She was so adorable she gave me a bit of baby fever. It was so great to see some old friends and yummy too, they served Mongolian food for dinner. It was my first time eating Mongolian and it was tasty. By the end of the week though I was more than ready and very excited to get back home to my boys, and hopefully next year they can go with me.
