BEAUTIFUL SAN DIEGO: DAY 1

Oh how I love San Diego. Once is college someone told me I should move to San Diego it would suit me, at the time I had never been there but I couldn't imagine how I would ever like anyplace so hot, believing that since it was further south than LA of course it was hotter. But aha, that is not so. San Diego has beautiful weather and great sea breezes and we were lucky enough to enjoy it all the while on our recent vacation. V was amused from the second we got to the airport and saw the airplanes out the big windows. This was his first trip in his own seat and he did great.
Our first full day down there was spent at the San Diego Wild Animal Park. The animals are more free roaming in large areas rather than small cages so that is nice for them but makes the viewing a bit more difficult. I did catch this pretty cool shot of the lion, can you believe he is only 3 years old! Pretty ferocious roar. Ok, not really, he was just yawning but it still is intimidating.
We got to enjoy this fabulous vacation at the invitation of J's older brother and his family. Actually at the invite of his wife, don't the girls always do most the planning, haha.

Here's the gang, hanging out with the birds in the Aviary. V had so much fun with his cousins, he thought they were just the coolest. They are.

Of course we had to take a ride on the carousel before leaving.

After a nap at the hotel we decided to go see Coronado, one of our favorite places. It's so cute and the beach is gorgeous. This trip down the beach was a bit different than last time when I was about 7 months pregnant.
This was his first time seeing the ocean and waves and excited doesn't even begin to describe it!

I don't know which was harder, walking on sand while preggers a year and a half ago or trying to keep up with V so he didn't run straight into the waves this visit, haha. Either way our first day was lots of fun.
*Disclaimer: Please disregard my horrendous hair in all vacation photos. One, I need a haircut and two the hairdryer in the hotel room was broken so it was left to air dry which just meant limp, flat blahness.

I am so glad you put the disclaimer about your hair, because I wanted to say something...I couldn't look at all the nice San Diego scenery, distracted by your hair. Just kidding! I love San Diego! I always pictured myself as a gray-haired man living in La Jola, wearing a blue blazer sitting down at an outdoor table at a nice local restaurant. Speaking of restaurants I love how you can get a nice Thai dinner at a hole-in-the-wall place for around $5 in San Diego (well at least seven years ago you could.) Anyway, thanks for sharing and glad you are feeling better.

I totally didn't even notice that your hair was not at its usual pinnacle of perfection! :) Looks like you guys had great fun in SD prior to the pukeys! Hope you all feel way better soon and we're glad you're back! If we do anything fun this week we'll call ya, otherwise we'll plan something when we get back from Twilight Town!
