WEEK OF FIRSTS

Sorry for the long delay in getting a new post up. We have been quite busy this past week or so. It was filled with firsts for little V. So as a fair warning there is an onslaught of pics to follow catching most of these firsts: It started by meeting Grandpa B for the first time. V had no problem liking him, especially as he fed him his bottle. If you give the little guy food he loves you, haha.
Then we went to the beach for the first time. It was very warm and sunny and thankfully V actually slept through most of it so I could keep him covered from the sun.
However when he did wake up he got to meet Grandma P and Aunt S for the first time. They both were so excited to hold him.
He also met his first cousin C. She was excited to meet him but also excited that she got to come back and visit so she could play in the tide pools again. She had a request to bring back some hermit crabs from her trip. I think marine bioligist would be an excellent career choice for her, actually anything with animals would be good.
And if you are wondering why all the family came to visit, the reason is because V had his Blessing at church. He looked so handsome in his outfit even if the pants were still a little too big and had to be rolled, haha.
Both Grandpas stood up in the circle to help bless him as did some of our wonderful friends in the ward. V was so well behaved and didn't make a peep during the blessing and J did a wonderful job.
That afternoon brought another first. V's first road trip. He and I decided to drive back with the grandparents for a visit. This was his first time in a different state also, doesn't he look so thrilled, haha. Thank goodness for Costco's; they provide a perfect rest area, gas, clean bathrooms, and snack samples who could ask for more. It was also a trip of first for mom, as I learned how to pump while doing 65 mph down the highway. Don't worry I wasn't driving.

And just as an update, V doesn't mind bathtime so much anymore. In fact he really likes to get all dried off and such.
It's a good thing it's the age of digital cameras otherwise Grandma and I would have gone through an entire roll because he was giggling and smiling so much.
I just had to have a picture with my favorite little man with this onesie on, I hope it's true.

It was great to have a week of help again, not that Grandma had any complaints. It meant she got to plant all the kisses she wanted on V all week. He didn't seem to mind.

And he continued to enjoy hanging out with Grandpa too who was also good at getting some smiles and giggles from him.

V got to meet his namesake, Great-grandpa VV for the first time as well. And he was such a hit! Great-grandpa wants to take him to Holland and to quote when I asked if I could come too - "No, it's just the two of us!" So I guess there is no question he was proud of his namesake.

J flew up for the weekend and also had a first; he got to play Wii over at my uncle's during a family bbq. He and my cousin T (on the couch) beat two of my uncle's in bowling! At the bbq was the first time V had been around dogs either. He didn't seem to notice them, but all four dogs sure seemed interested in him and kept trying to lick his feet and smell him. And when he cried to be fed all of them came running to check on him, so protective!
We had a delicious dinner overlooking the water. I can't wait to go back and have the salmon bowl again, fresh seafood is so good.
I just had to share this onesie with everyone as often it feels like that is what I do most the day besides feed him, haha.
To celebrate V turning 7 weeks old he got to take his first plane ride. And all my fears were unfounded, he did terrific.
He was even dressed for the occasion, if you can't tell his onesie is all airplanes. He had a good time and the flight attendants loved him and gave us a good tip for any of you that have babies, the airsick bags are the perfect size for dirty diapers!
I just thought these were funny pictures. I was trying to take pics of his overalls b/c I just think they are so cute. However he had just woken up from a nap so wasn't exactly in the mood to have mama telling him to smile etc.
And this is his the-photo-shoot-is-done pose! Obviously he has a lot of firsts yet to go so keep checking back and hopefully we will get some great shots of those as well.
